Hawaii Pet Magazine

Congrats to our members that will attend the advanced screening of "earth"

Hawaii Pet Magazine is proud to be a Hawaii sponsor for earth, the first film in the Disney nature series! Narrated by James Earl Jones, earth follows the journey of three animal families as they travel our planet. Opening Nationwide Earth Day, April 22, 2009.

Hawaii Pet Magazine gave away passes (each pass admits 2) to the April 8 earth to our members that told us how they are reducing their carbon footprint (and pet's pawprint).

View the "earth" movie trailer.

Congratulations!!! View the member that will be attending the prescreening of earth and read about their "green" habits.

My family and I have changed our ways by recycling cans, bottle, jugs, and jars. We use the money for family outings. We have also changed our lightbulbs to CFL's and are hanging most of our laundry. Our children are even doing a great job by picking up our doggie mess. To top it off, our children a taking shorter showers!

We started to bring our re-usable shopping bags whenever going shopping--any shopping. . . like going to our pup's favorite pet store!!

I tend to either bring my own grocery bag, or just carry things out.

We are currently increasing the amount of plants and trees in our yard to help the environment. We also keep the yard clean, maintained and pest free so our dogs have their own personal dog park. We open the windows and turn off the air conditioner at night to save energy. We also do most of our banking and bill paying online to decrease the amount of paper coming into the house.

i also reduce my carbon footprint by carpooling to/from work!

Besides recycling bottles, cans and grocery bags...we have a big collection of the reusable bags for all the stores. I don't think twice to use a Foodland bag at Safeway. :) We buy rechargeable batteries. We have solar panels. We use CFL bulbs. I am always teaching the kids the importance of shorter showers and also turning off the lights and other appliances when not in use. Also...hang clothes on the line versus using the dryer when it's a bright sunny day. i reuse paper from work for scratch paper or to work out their homework problems on. Last Saturday, March 28, I told the kids to turn off the lights and as many things they could in the house because of Earth Hour. The youngest of the kids (10 years old) remembered and reminded everyone to do it! She's the same one I took to a composting seminar. Mostly I talk to them about how important it is if each person does something to help the earth that it will make a big difference.

I bring my own reusable bags to the grocery store. Try to buy locally as much as I can because even organic foods shipped in from far away cause pollution in the shipping, handling and storage.

I have 3 dogs all mix breed and to save our earth we use biodegratable poopie bags when walking our dogs, and feed them organic dog food. when we shop we use our own recycable bags instead of plastic bags but when we forget and pile up with plastic bags we always take them back to safeway and recycle them. We changed all our light bulbs to energy savers and we constantly are recycling our plastic bottles, cans and glass. we all love the idea of going green!
