Hawaii Pet Magazine

Congrats to our members that will attend the advanced screening of "earth"

Hawaii Pet Magazine is proud to be a Hawaii sponsor for earth, the first film in the Disney nature series! Narrated by James Earl Jones, earth follows the journey of three animal families as they travel our planet. Opening Nationwide Earth Day, April 22, 2009.

Hawaii Pet Magazine gave away passes (each pass admits 2) to the April 8 earth to our members that told us how they are reducing their carbon footprint (and pet's pawprint).

View the "earth" movie trailer.

Congratulations!!! View the member that will be attending the prescreening of earth and read about their "green" habits.

We would try to recycle the used grocery bags for multiple uses. Also we recycle bottles and cans at home.

Popo and I are always finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprints from changing all of our cleaning products at home to the 'green' clorox brand (non-toxic) ingredients to using recycled and organic materials around the house. Being that we are still in 'house-training' mode, we go through many products, thus producing a lot of waste. We may be a little slow to the idea of recycling, but recently we've just started a 'program' at home being more mindful of separating our waste before heading to the dumpster. It goes as far as learning how to make our own 'fertilizer' and compost out of left over foods and items. We're still learning though on how being 'earth' friendly can benefit us all.

I just bought stainless steel water bottles to use everyday. I used to buy cases of bottled water to drink each day. Now I'll just fill up my reuseable bottle with tap water and I'm good to go! Saves space in my house, saves money, and no more tons of plastic bottles to deal with.

My kitty is also eating organic food now ;-)

My addition to reducing the family's carbon footprint is turning off the power strips at night, as well as the water heater. We have most of our electronics plugged into strips.

Another way we try to reduce our footprint is by reusing ziplock and plastic bags before throwing it away. Also using "green bags" at the grocery.

When I take my shower I turn the water off while I soap up, shave, etc. then turn it back on to rinse off. I use environmetnly friendly cleaners, detergents, etc. I pick up after my dog and other dogs, if necessary, and keep my dog up to date on vacinations and heartworm preventatives. We walk wherever we can. We unplug electrical appliances and electronics when not in use. We use energy star-rated appliances.
