Of course I vote for Duke and wish that he would find his way home to us. Can dogs vote? Our other dogs, Man, the Malamute, Bruddah and Hunkydory, Husky/Shepherd crosses, want to vote too and offer to share their bones. Sasha the cat is for Duke als…
Duke was lost between Kahuku and Kualoa on May 19, 2009. I have searched that area extensively. I believe that Duke was picked up by someone and given a home out of the area where he was lost. I am hoping the Pet Network members will help by keeping…
Duke is an Alaskan Malamute who is currently lost (since May 21, 2009) He was lost at a stop between Kahuku and Kualoa. He jumped out the driver's window. I didn't realize that Duke was not in the truck and drove on. I was towing a horse trailer at the time and when I got home, I thought I had both the dogs with me. I opened the door to the truck and said, dogs out, not even realizing then that Duke did not jump out. It was only when he did not come up the hill for dinner, or to sleep by our bed, that I thought it was strange. Next morning, I asked everyone on the farm when did you last see Duke. Stories varied, but I soon had the terrible realization that he must have jumped out, probably by Kualoa Ranch. I have an extensive details of my ongoing search for Duke at www.olomanagarden.com/dukealaskanmalamute.html
We also have three other dogs adoptees on our farm, Bruddah (a Husky/Shepherd refugee from the financial crisis), Hunkydory (Husky/Shepherd who was not wanted) and Man, another malamute we just adopted from a family that was struggling to keep up with the high-energy dog and a special needs child. We also have my late father's cat , Sasha, that I brought from Australia, 3 horses, and a lot of chickens, ducks, geese, and eight small goats, koi fish and lots and lots of tilapia.
I believe that Duke was most likely picked up by someone on the day I lost him or early the next day before lunch time. I think he could have been taken home with someone who has now adopted him. He is a very attractive dog.
At this point I am appealing to whoever has him to please return him, no questions asked. We'll even pay a reward. If anyone in the Pet Network has a neighbor, friend or even family member who has just acquired a new, adult, male Malamute, please ask them to take the dog to the vet's office and have it scanned. Duke's microchip number is on file with the Hawaiian Humane Society.
If you'd rather just call us and let us follow up, the number is 398-6089 or 259-0223.
Thanks for your help and support.
